Architect (RIBA Part 3) – Residential & Heritage Projects
Tonic Architecture is a small, RIBA Chartered practice specialising in beautifully crafted, sustainable private residential projects across the Cotswolds and southern England. We have extensive experience in the sensitive reuse, refurbishment and extension of historic and listed buildings, alongside contemporary new homes. Our work is rooted in three core values: People, Planet and Place.
We are looking for a talented all-rounder, involved from the very first concept sketches through to detailed construction drawings and project delivery. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in high-quality design and technical work, and wants to contribute meaningfully to projects that respect heritage while embracing sustainability.
We’re looking for somebody who is:
- RIBA Part 3 qualified and ARB registered.
- Experienced in the high-end residential sector.
- Confident working with historic and listed buildings.
- Comfortable working from concept through to detailed construction information.
- Thoughtful, collaborative and committed to sustainable, context-sensitive design.
- A good communicator who enjoys working closely with clients and the wider team.
- Experienced and has good understanding of CDM & BSA PD roles
- Proficient in AutoCAD/Bricscad, Adobe Suite and SketchUp - with knowledge of rendering plug-ins beneficial
- Experienced in dealing with the UK Building Regulations, technical detailing and producing Building Regulations drawings
- Good at creating presentation documents - with hand sketching and physical model-making beneficial.
You will be expected to:
- Work across a range of private residential projects, including listed building refurbishments, extensions and new homes.
- Take projects from concept design through planning, technical design and construction stages.
- Produce clear, high-quality drawings and documentation.
- Collaborate closely with clients, consultants and contractors in a supportive studio environment.
- Contribute to our focus on natural materials, low-carbon design and buildings that belong to their place.
