We are a RIBA Chartered Architectural Practice delivering contemporary design, and re-use, refurbishment and extension of historic and listed buildings
Tonic Architecture was established in 2012 by Tobias Feilding-Crawley and Nick Tomlinson.
Based in Bristol, we work throughout the country on all scales of private residential, development, public and education projects.
Tonic Architecture has a wealth of experience working on contemporary, historic and listed properties together with those in sensitive locations.
Driven by our passions for the continuity of tradition and preservation of the environment, we aim to create beautiful, responsible buildings that enhance and are rooted in their locations.
We work closely with tried and trusted consultants, contractors and artisans who share our approach, and regularly deal with planning and conservation officers together with consultees such as Historic England.
As a practice, we are aware both of the need to limit and mitigate the impact of our actions in order to help in the fight against climate breakdown, and the responsibility that we have in ensuring that our designs improve the sustainability of the built environment.
We aim to use natural, local and sustainable materials to create beautiful architecture that enhances its place, our wellbeing and our quality of life
The re-use and retrofitting of existing buildings is, we believe, one of the most responsible things that we as architects can do to reduce our environmental impact, and is also a key element of our approach.
We believe that we should:-
– Leave the environment in a better condition than we found it
– Promote traditional crafts and use historic buildings and techniques as a guide and resource for contemporary solutions
– Use natural, local and sustainable materials to create beautiful architecture that enhances its place, our wellbeing and our quality of life
